The gathering also brought attention to a major accomplishment by the MVD Kashmir: in the six months after the procedure was revived after almost a decade’s hiatus, the department issued a record 1,607. This exemplifies the department’s proactive approach to easing business permit restrictions and enhancing transit options.

The RTO has also praised the MVD’s officers and officials for their outstanding work in enforcing traffic laws and levying penalties for moving offences. Recovery of fines increased significantly by 71 percent over the time period under review, going from Rs 0.87 Cr. to Rs 1.50 Cr.

The RTO reaffirmed its support for the enforcement community’s continued efforts towards this goal and emphasised that offenders should face not only criminal penalties but also the revocation of their driving privileges, car registrations, and business licences.

At the conference, it was announced that over the previous two quarters, a total of 303 driving licences, 52 vehicle registration certificates, and 305 business permits had been suspended or revoked across all districts in the Kashmir division.

There were 43297 new car registrations in Q1 and Q2 of the fiscal year. There were 17599 new licences granted and 17956 renewals, 2604 new permits issued, and 2627 new fitness certificates issued in the first two quarters of this year. Additionally, 6594 vehicle transfer cases were resolved.

The Regional Transport Office of Kashmir reemphasized the need for a dependable and efficient public transport system for the benefit of the people. Congestion on the highways may be greatly lessened if a reliable public transport system is put in place. He said it will help make travel in the area “more sustainable and environment-friendly” while also making it easier for locals to go about.

All 10 of the Kashmir division’s Assistant Regional Transport Officers were present.
