Ramban: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway stayed open on Monday for both light and big trucks to go in both directions.

Authorities said, though, that traffic was still slow because a few big cars and a single stretch of road at Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, Ramban, and a few other places between Nashri and Banihal on the highway had broken down.

The people in charge of traffic control in Ramban said that during the day, hundreds of heavy vehicles bringing important supplies and goods as well as LMVs went through the Nashri-Banihal area on their way to their destinations.

They said, “Cars are still going in a controlled way to their destinations in Kashmir and Jammu.”

Meanwhile, a warning from the Jammu and Kashmir traffic police department said, “Subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of the highway on Tuesday.”

“People are told not to travel until they check with Traffic Control Units at Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, and Ramban about the condition of the highway,” the warning said.
