He claimed Manzoor owed Shabir Rs 98 lakh and handed him a Rs 70 lakh check on 25 April 2021, but it bounced.

“On 25 May 2021, the accused was given legal notice of the cheque memo and asked to pay or face legal action. He claimed the accused did not pay or respond to the notification, therefore Chief Judicial Magistrate Shopian heard the case.

He continued, “Later the accused appeared before the court and started contesting the case, and after several hearings, the CJM Shopian convicted the accused for knowingly giving fraud cheque to the dealer when he knew his account was empty.”

“The accused was accordingly convicted with two years in prison, double the cheque amount, Rs 1.40 crore as fine, 15% interest on cheque amount from issuance to realisation in practical and litigation charges of Rs 50,000 to the compliant,” he added.
