Noida, Oct 8 (IANS) : The hi-tech metropolis of Noida in Uttar Pradesh has been rocked by six suicides in 24 hours, with mental stress being the primary cause. Six Noida residents committed suicide on October 5 owing to emotional distress, according to reports. Police in Gautam Budh Nagar have confirmed that 50-year-old Jagbir Singh Rathi, from the Beta-2 precinct of the police station, committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the Gamma-1 area.

He committed suicide, allegedly after a family conflict; he was a successful businessman. Secondly, a 22-year-old lady named Shivani who lived in the Badalpur police station area took her own life by hanging herself from a fan at her home. Third, a 17-year-old named Lalita from the Police Station Phase-One neighbourhood committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan.

Jitendra alias Jeetu, a resident of the Jarcha neighbourhood near the police station, committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan. The fifth incidence included a 20-year-old male who, under the influence of stress, hung himself on a tree limb in the vicinity of Sector 54 at the Sector 24 area police station.

Sixth, Sonu, a young man from the Kasna neighbourhood, took poison as a result of emotional distress. The authorities are making an effort to learn more about the circumstances surrounding each death, but so far, it seems that the only people who have taken such drastic action have been mentally ill. An ex-couple was discovered dead in their residence on September 25.

They had both taken their own lives. A suicide note and empty medication bottles containing poison were discovered nearby. On September 19, a young woman jumped in front of a tube train in an apparent suicide attempt. The girl’s hand was severed in the event, which occurred at the Noida City Centre metro station at about 9:30 a.m.

A lady with mental illness committed suicide on September 12 by leaping from the 17th floor of her apartment building. Dr. NK Sharma, a former president of the Noida IMA, told IANS that the rise in suicide rates, particularly among young people, is attributable to nuclear families and western lifestyles. He said, “Today’s kids and teenagers want everything right now.

They are unable to confide in their friends and family when they are feeling down or experiencing difficulties. Because of this, the suicide rate among young people continues to rise. Most suicides, he claims, may be attributed to the victim’s feelings of isolation. These days, no one cares about the well-being of those who are anxious or emotionally disturbed, and no one knows about their difficulties.
