Srinagar, August 15: The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great passion and merriment at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in Kashmir.

The Shalimar campus of SKUAST-K held an early morning flag hoisting ceremony, with Vice Chancellor Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganai at the helm. The students were joined by the Registrar, the Directors of the University, the Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture, the Controller of Examinations, the Heads of Departments, the Professors, and other officers of the University. The occasion also included the playing of the National Anthem.

The vice chancellor spoke during the event, praising the students, teachers, and staff for their enthusiastic involvement in the university’s “Meri Maati Mera Desh” (My Soil, My Country) celebrations.

He paid eloquent respect to the Indian freedom fighters who fought against British colonial authority and to the country’s subsequent amazing development.
