Authorities finally let the 8th Muharram procession follow its regular path after more than 30 years.

On Thursday, July 27th, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha celebrated the return of the Muharram-08 procession to Srinagar after an absence of 30 years.

After 35 years, Sinha was “happy to see the Muharram procession going on through roads of Srinagar.”

The 8th Muharram procession in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir, was finally permitted to follow its regular path on Thursday, after being banned for more than three decades.

From 6 AM until 8 AM, the authorities allowed the parade to take place.Thousands of mourners participated in the march, which left Shaheed Gunj and headed towards Dalgate, a path that has been off-limits for processions since 1989 due to the prevailing peace and order situation.
