Divisional Commissioner Kashmir VK Bidhuri said on Monday, August 28th, that every residence, street, and historical monument in the Srinagar district would be assigned a unique identification number. This will allow for quick and easy identification by authorities.

“Unique ID distribution is an action conducted as part of the Smart City Project. According to KNS, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir VK Bidhuri stated that the operation, which had previously been carried out on a trial basis in Srinagar, will soon be expanded outside Srinagar.

He said that the unique ID would make it easier for friends and family to find the person’s whereabouts and get in touch with them.

He said that this would let police and curious citizens alike easily discover the address in question.

In 2022, the district of Srinagar in central Kashmir started a pilot programme to provide a unique identifier to every resident and enterprise there. To keep an eye on things in the area, the authorities set up a state-of-the-art Command Control System (CCS) at HMT Srinagar.
