In the Mandi region of the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army on Wednesday thwarted an attempt at infiltration, killing two terrorists in the process, according to authorities.
The corpse of a terrorist and warlike supplies were found, according to a statement from a defence spokesperson, and a search effort to find another body is ongoing.
Two terrorists were seen crossing the Line of Control and heading towards their own side on the nights of 5 and 6, according to the statement, which was released by Poonch District. The Indian Army and JKP quickly began a joint operation to stop the militants.
Terrorists used hostile terrain, a thick jungle, and a steep incline to fire heavily on their own forces, it was noted. “In the ensuing firefight, which continued until the next day, both terrorists were eliminated,” it states.
