New Delhi, September 3: The BJP on Sunday invented a new name, “INDI Alliance,” to challenge the opposition parties after the third meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, often known as INDIA.

Amit Shah, the home minister, made the initiative while criticising the INDIA alliance, claiming that “when the people declared bankruptcy of this arrogant alliance, they changed the name from UPA to INDI Alliance.” Following Shah’s jab, a number of prominent BJP figures also criticised Congress on X.

The INDIA coalition has previously come under fire from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said that even the “Indian Mujahideen and East India Company had the words INDIA in them.”

After the 26 parties met in Bengaluru on July 17 and 18, they resolved to designate like-minded parties as the INDIA bloc to oppose the BJP. This decision led to Modi’s jab at the opposition group.
