Dr. Mehta told the police officers that the independence of any country is a monumental event. He said that since the day represents the spirit of independence and togetherness, it should be celebrated with much pomp and circumstance beginning at the Panchayat level. For the event to go off without a hitch and appropriately showcase the nation’s pride and accomplishments, he said, careful preparation and organisation were essential.

The Chief Secretary ordered the relevant officials to provide impenetrable security at and around Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium while examining the event’s readiness. He gave orders to the traffic department to find a spot close to the event where cars could be parked legally and safely.

The Chief Secretary urged the officials to make the day a happy one by flying the national flag over all government buildings, schools, colleges, and institutions on August 15. He requested that each DC host a party of a similar kind from inside their own district. In addition, he had them raise banners close to the Amrit Sarovars that had been set up in various Panchayats.
