On Tuesday, December 19, Pahalgam was -6.9 degrees Celsius colder than usual, and Srinagar was 3.7 degrees Celsius colder. The Meteorological Department said that it would stay dry until December 22.

The weather forecast from MeT said that it would mostly stay dry until December 23. From December 24 to 26, it would be mostly cloudy, with light snow possible in a few higher elevations. Overall, they said, “There isn’t going to be any major weather until December 26.”

It was 2.5 degrees Celsius cooler than usual in Pahalgam, a popular tourist spot in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, on the coldest night of the season. The previous night had been -5.8 degrees Celsius, making this night the coolest of the season.


For example, Anantnag had a temperature of -5.1 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, Pulwama had a temperature of -5.5 degrees Celsius, Shopian had a temperature of -6.8 degrees Celsius, and Kulgam had a temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius.

According to the MeT, the temperature dropped very quickly in Srinagar, reaching -3.7 degrees Celsius from 0.5 degrees Celsius the night before. This was 2.2 degrees Celsius below the usual summer temperature.
They said that Srinagar’s highest temperature on Tuesday was two degrees Celsius higher than the normal amount of nine degrees Celsius.

After having the coldest night of the season on Tuesday and Monday, with a temperature of -8 degrees Celsius, MeT officials said that the temperature at Gulmarg had risen since then.

People who work at the famous ski area in north Kashmir said it was 1.8 degrees Celsius colder than usual.

In Qazigund, south Kashmir, the temperature dropped to -4.2 degrees Celsius from 0.8 degrees Celsius the day before, according to the MeT. In Kokernag, the temperature dropped to -3.1 degrees Celsius from 1.1 degrees Celsius the night before.

It was 3.1 degrees Celsius colder in Kupwara than it was the night before (2.2 degrees Celsius), and it was 1.4 degrees Celsius colder than usual in the north Kashmir district.
