The Kalakote police station has authority over the Rajouri district’s outlying villages of Broh and Soom, which are located there.

According to reports, combined teams made up of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir police, and CRPF roped off the area on Monday morning and searched it thoroughly because they thought there may be terrorists there. The search effort went on all day, with periodic “speculative firing” incidents.

Terrorists allegedly opened fire on the search teams late on Monday night from within the forest, setting off a retaliatory reaction that resulted in a gunfight.

Two soldiers were wounded as a consequence of the protracted gunfight that lasted throughout the night between Monday and Tuesday. Both wounded troops have been sent to the army hospital in Rajouri, where they are said to be in stable condition.

According to the most recent reports, the encounter is still going on.
