Jammu, Dec. 19: Anand Jain, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Jammu zone, reaffirmed on Tuesday the determination to eradicate terrorism entirely and said that J&K was up to any task.

After the 12th Police Martyr’s Memorial T-20 Cricket Championship 2023–24 was officially opened at Sports Stadium Kathua, the IGP was answering questions from the media.

Jain was accompanied by SSP Kathua Shivdeep Jamwal and DIG JSK Range Shakti Pathak.

In response to questions about drug smuggling, IGP Jain said that all instances were under investigation, all possible routes of transmission were being looked at, and every effort was being made to ensure that J&K was “drug-free.”


The IGP Jammu and other officials paid a heartfelt homage to police martyrs earlier, and in his inauguration speech, Jain reaffirmed that the Jammu and Kashmir Police will never forget the martyrs’ sacrifices of their lives while doing their duties, according to a police spokeswoman.

In order to improve society, divert young people’s energies from drugs and other negative social influences, and provide them with opportunities to pursue sports as a vocation, he said, the police will keep up their efforts to support sports.

The Shaheed Welfare Committee and District Police Kathua were commended by IGP for putting up a major cricket tournament in honor of police dead.

Sixteen teams in all are competing for the title. The competition will go as a league until the quarterfinals, at which point it will switch to a knockout format.

The Shaheed Welfare Committee and the Kathua Police asked people to come watch the competition and encourage each and every competitor.

Kathua SSP Welcomed to make the inauguration a grand affair, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal thanked all of the dignitaries and attendees. Additionally, SSP Kathua provided a short history of the competition from its inception in 2010.

The chairman of the Shaheed Welfare Committee thanked the sponsors, the principal guest, and the Kathua police for their outstanding assistance in putting the event together.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were DC Kathua Rakesh Minhas, Principal PTS Kathua Manjit Kour, JKPS Commandant IRP 19th Bn Koshal Kumar Sharma, Additional SP Kathua Paramjeet Singh, and representatives from civil, police, and other sister agencies, as well as the Shaheed Welfare Committee, well-known Kathuans, retired police officers, families of police martyrs, and championship sponsors.
