August 16th, Srinagar: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned approximately Rupees 1.08 crore in welfare loans in favour of 85 police employees to satisfy their immediate financial requirements, continuing a series of welfare steps taken by Police Headquarters for J&K Police personnel.

The NoKs of fallen police officers would also benefit from Rs. 1.6 crore in special welfare payments that he has authorised.

Twenty-nine police officers have been granted a one million rupee welfare loan, while forty-seven police officers have been granted a 1.5 million rupee loan to cover the costs of their own weddings or the weddings of their children.

A “welfare loan of rupees 1.5 lakh each for higher/professional education of their children” has been awarded to four police officers. Five police officers have been granted a total of one hundred fifty thousand rupees (about $7,000) to cover “the financial expenses of their sister’s marriage and for circumcision/Akhand Path of their ward.” The money comes from the Central Police welfare Fund, which has been approved.

The welfare loan provided to police officers is repayable and is deducted from their paychecks on a regular basis.

In the meantime, the DGP has granted special welfare relief to the dependents/legal heirs of the dead servicemen in the amount of rupees 22 lakh.
