In the last several weeks, the cost of many vegetables, including tomatoes, potatoes, and onions, has risen.

The government made the decision to sell tomatoes at Rs 40 per kg starting on August 20 in an effort to further reduce their costs in response to the skyrocketing cost of tomatoes.

The consumer affairs department has instructed NAFED and NCCF to start selling tomatoes at Rs 40 per kg on August 20 due to the ongoing fall in tomato prices in wholesale and retail marketplaces.
