The spokesman said that the eviction process was started under Section 4 of the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971. The first notice was sent to the Central Public Works Department, and then another notice was sent to all the unknown unauthorised occupants at Kashmir House, Rajaji Marg, who were staying on this piece of land and also using it without permission.

He said that after that, the Estates Officer, Resident Commission, J&K Government, New Delhi, issued an eviction order under sub-section (1) of Sec 5 of the Public Premises (Eviction of illegal residents) Act, 1971, against all the illegal residents whose names were not known.

The spokesman said that even though the proper legal steps had been taken, the people who weren’t supposed to be there still hadn’t left after 15 days, which was how long the Estates Officer’s eviction order said they had. After that, no notice of appeal or stay against the Estates Officer’s eviction order was received.

He said that in the end, the Estates Officer of the J&K Resident Commission, along with help from different parts of the J&K Police, J&K PW(R&B), New Delhi, and staff of the J&K Resident Commission, New Delhi, kicked out all the illegal residents on Friday.

The official said that everyone who was living there without permission was given a chance to take their things, and that the process of kicking them out went smoothly.
