Bandipora, 21 August: A surprise check of cars was carried out today on the Gurez-Bandipora route. The primary emphasis of the inspection was on the affixation of HSRP plates and speed limitation devices.
During the inspection, a great number of cars were challenged in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act. During the incident, five drivers’ licences, two registration certificates, and four permits were confiscated, and citations for traffic offences were issued immediately. According to the ARTO Bandipora, the traffic inspection campaign will continue over the next several days at a variety of locations around the district.
During the inspection, a total of 28,000 rupees was collected as a fine from the violators, and the documentation of certain cars were taken away. In addition to that, automobiles operating without HSRP were also taken into custody.
