Srinagar, July 28: Davinder Kumar, the passport officer for Kashmir and Ladakh, recommended individuals on Friday to finish the “DigiLocker” procedure of uploading documents to cut down on total processing time and ensure smooth processing.

One of the main projects of the Digital India programme, Digital Locker, aims to do away with the need for physical papers by allowing the exchange of e-documents with Passport Seva via a system to check the “authenticity” of the documents online.

When completing the passport application form, the applicant has the option to share papers from their DigiLocker account that were granted by the federal and state governments with the Passport Seva system.

The Self Declaration screen and the Upload Supporting Documents screen both allow for the same action.

If a certain document has previously been shared using DigiLocker, the applicants are not needed to bring the original papers with them while visiting PSK, POPSK, or the Passport Office.

Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID Card, PAN, Verification Record, Issue of Arm Licence, Birth Certificate, Caste Certificate, Ration Card, Pension Certificate, Insurance Policy Certificate, Life Certificate, Class X Passing Certificate, Electricity Bill, and Telephone Bill are among the documents that can be shared with Passport Seva through DigiLocker. The applicant will be given the opportunity to share uploaded DigiLocker papers for “Proof of Birth” and “Proof of Present Residential Address” on the self-declaration screen for new and reissue passport applications.
