Ramban, July 25: On Tuesday, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was still open for one-way heavy vehicle traffic heading towards Jammu and two-way light vehicle traffic transporting Amarnath Yatris, tourists, and residents.
However, according to traffic officials, Ramban’s Mehar-Cafeteria portion of the highway was shut for 11 minutes as a result of stone-throwing.
They said that the poor traffic flow between Nashri and Banihal was caused by the breakdown of multiple HMVs as well as the single road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, and other locations.
Traffic authorities in Ramban said that hundreds of LMVs transporting pilgrims to Amarnath, tourists, and residents continuously plied on either side of the route.
They said that the HMVs freed from Qazigund in Kashmir moved in a controlled direction towards Jammu.
According to a new warning from the Traffic Department, LMVs transporting Amarnath Yatris, visitors, and residents will be permitted to operate on both sides of the route beginning on Wednesday, provided the weather is cooperative and the roads are in excellent condition.
They said that HMVs will be permitted from Jakhani-Udhampur towards Kashmir after evaluating the condition of the roads and traffic.
