Ganderbal, September 19: A number of government schools in the Hariganiwan education zone of the Ganderbal district in central Kashmir are experiencing a teaching staff shortage, which is worrying the parents of children enrolled in these schools.

According to sources, the education zone Hariganiwan is experiencing a teaching staff shortage, with many schools in this zone, especially in remote rural regions, having fewer teachers on staff than necessary. Many parents expressed their worries about their kids’ education since there isn’t enough teaching personnel in the classrooms, which is having an impact on students’ learning. According to official sources, there are around 122 schools (K–8th grade) with a total student population of 7000 and 392 teachers on staff. A social activist named Parvaiz Ahmed expressed concern that the Hariganiwan zone in the Ganderbal district had less staff members available than the other schooling zones. He said that these institutions are home to the children of low-income families who cannot afford to enrol their children in other private schools, and that if the authorities don’t look into the matter, these pupils’ futures would be destroyed.

The government, according to the locals, seemed unconcerned with the problem. Ganderbal Abdul Majid Kohli, chief education officer, acknowledged that some of the schools in the education zone of Hariganiwan lack teaching personnel but promised that the issue will be fixed. However, there are certain problems that we are working to fix, CEO told Greater Kashmir. “We are trying to manage the staff shortage in some schools by posting more teachers.” He said that the cluster heads have been given the go-ahead to assess the staffing levels at the schools that fall under their purview in order to make the required adjustments in the case of staffing shortages. The CEO promised to conduct a review and determine what further needs to be done in this respect.
