The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was open all day Thursday for vehicles of all sizes, including light, medium, and heavy trucks. Ramban communicated this on March 21.

Authorities in charge of traffic circulation halted the National Highway for over an hour due to road repair work near Mehar.

On top of that, they mentioned that traffic was still moving at a snail’s pace due to a few big trucks breaking down and one road and poor surface conditions at places like Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, Ramban, Panthyal Magarkote, Shalgari, Nachlana, and others between Nashri and Banihal.

Hundreds of light, medium, and heavy trucks passed through the Nashri-Banihal sector on their way to their destinations without any problems, according to traffic authorities who were monitoring the management of traffic in Ramban. The route stayed open all day.

Large cargo movers are reportedly in route to Jammu and Kashmir under a prearranged schedule. On the other hand, a fresh alert from the Jammu and Kashmir traffic police for Friday said that, with good weather and enough road clearance, light-medium trucks may use either side of the road.

This past Friday, from Jakhani, Udhampur, large vehicles will be allowed to drive on the National Highway between Udhampur and Qazigund, although under strict supervision. With an eye toward Kashmir, this would be perfectly legal.

However, they reiterated their earlier warning that nighttime travel on the National Highway between the Ramban and Banihal areas might result in the audible sound of gunfire, so drivers, commuters, and others should exercise extreme care. The information supplied suggests that you should only travel on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway during the day.

They continued by advising drivers to stay in their lanes at all times, but especially on the section of the National Highway between Nashri and Banihal.

However, because of the recent snowfall, the highway that links Kishtwar, Sinthan, and Anantnag remains blocked.
