The Anantnag eco-warrior's effort is destroyed by fire

Baramulla: On Friday, a fire destroyed three residential buildings in the Kitchama Bala neighbourhood of the Baramulla district in north Kashmir.

Two homes were totally destroyed, while a third only sustained minor damage, according to a representative of the Fire and Emergency Services Baramulla.

According to Riyaz Ahmad, a representative of Baramulla’s fire and rescue services, the fire originated in Ghulam Ahmad Bhat’s two-story home before spreading to adjacent residences.

The home of Altaf Hussain Parrey sustained very minimal damage, whereas the home of Abdul Ahad Sheikh was entirely destroyed.

On Friday, when the department of F&E services received a distress call, two fire tenders hurried to the scene and, after frantic attempts, put out the fires.

The army personnel also assisted in putting out fires.

To ensure that situations of this kind are dealt with appropriately, the locals encouraged the government to assign a fire tender to the area.

Locals requested the Baramulla district government to financially compensate the impacted households.

“The afflicted households are quite underprivileged. In order for them to be able to rebuild their lives, the government need to step up, according to local resident Muhammad Akram.
