Cab driver perishes in the Kupwara tragedy

Two workers and a passenger were murdered after their car went off the road and fell into a canyon in Kishtwar district on Friday.

According to official sources, a Camper van (JK17-6327) carrying three individuals lost control and tumbled down into the valley while travelling near the under construction Kiru Hydro-electric plant.

According to reports, the car’s three passengers were instantly killed in the collision. The dead have been named as Kishtwar locals Ashfaq Hussain (25), son of Mohammad Ashraf Malik; Chanjgu Ram (38), son of C. Singh of Chicgnana Nagseni; and Badal Kumar (19), son of Ranjeet Singh of Bida Lower Bidda, who was the vehicle’s driver. The vehicle’s ownership was reportedly confirmed by a local construction business, but formal word was still needed.

The SHO of Kishtwar, Abid Bukhari, has confirmed the deaths of the three persons involved in the tragedy.
