Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh stated on Saturday that the days of innocent people being killed at the behest of Pakistan and its agencies were long gone and that special investigations of narco-terror cases were being conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), State Investigation Agency (SIA), and Special Investigation Units (SIU).

“We were successful in defending the people’s lives and property. The days when innocent people’s blood was shed at the behest of Pakistan and its agencies are long gone, the DGP told reporters on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day in this city. “People in today’s world live in a tranquil and peaceful environment. I am glad that our merchants and children are safe today.

Every year on October 21, Police Commemoration Day is honoured.

In India’s police services, this day is celebrated as Martyrs’ Day.

The day honours the 10 police officers who died in 1959 while protecting the nation’s borders with China.

NARCO-TERROR

The J&K Police Chief said that the noose around narcoterrorism has been tightened.

“About 39 cases of narcoterrorism have come to the forefront in recent years,” he said. “Special inquiries are being conducted. Investigations are being done in the cases that are with the NIA, SIA, and SIU.

According to Singh, the police recently scored a major victory when they seized 30 kg of a drug like cocaine near Ramban.

He said that Kupwara, Punjab, and Uttarakhand were connected to the crime. “All those implicated have been placed under custody. Narco-terrorism will be addressed firmly.

The DGP said that during the previous four years, efforts to halt narcotrafficking had multiplied fourfold.

He said, “We swear that this new war thrust upon our people by Pakistan after terrorism will be fought valiantly, and we need everyone’s support.”

LAUNCHPADS

According to Singh, numerous launch pads have been severely damaged, and the operations taking place there have been mostly stopped.

However, there are several camps along the border where such activities as training are conducted, and efforts are made to entice some individuals after training. To a great degree, we have been effective in curbing infiltration, he remarked.

TERROR RANKS INTERFERENCE AND HIRING

Despite a few infiltration attempts this year, over 90% of them, according to Singh, were thwarted at the Line of Control, and the infiltrators were killed.

Those who slipped into the hinterland were also murdered at that time, he said, thanks to the security services’ enormous victories. The enemy’s strategies have been recognised by the kids.

“While 110 young people joined terrorist organisations last year, only 10 have done so this year, and six of them have been killed,” he stated. “We urge the four to put down their weapons and rejoin society. We don’t intend to kill them. It is now appropriate to maintain peace.

A POWERFUL SECURITY GRID

The head of the J&K Police Department said that the border’s security system was highly robust.

“There were two incidents off track at the LoC, and their investigation is on,” he stated. “Details will be shared once they are available.”

According to Singh, the troops at their level are looking into the instances involving the BSF employee at Arnia and the Army employee in Kupwara to determine what transpired.

However, he said, “Overall, the ceasefire is holding everywhere.”

The DGP said that since terrorism first flared out, 1605 police officers had been slain.

He stated, “I pay my respects to them and the other members of the security forces.” “This year, eight police officers were slain. I want to let you know that their sacrifices were worthwhile. We pledge to put an end to the terror’s lingering effects now that we have won our fight against it.
