On Monday in New Delhi, numerous prominent politicians, including four former lawmakers and a serving district development council member from Jammu and Kashmir, will officially join the Congress party.

According to the news outlet KNO, numerous prominent politicians, including Taranjeet Singh Tony (a member of the DDC) and former MLCs Naresh Gupta, Yash Pal Kundal, Sopore Haji Abdul Rashid, and Sham Lal Baghat, are expected to join the Congress party today.

Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) included three of these ex-lawmakers in its ranks.

This is a severe blow to Azad and his Democratic Progressive Alliance for Progress (DPAP), which he created after leaving Congress.

According to the report, Congress established lines of contact with its various leaders who had abandoned the party after August 5, 2019. A top Congress politician was reported as saying, “We are hopeful of the return of these leaders.”
