TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

  1. From April 24, 2024, 1700 hrs. to April 25, 2024, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to the breakdown of 07 HMVs, 4 nomadic flocks, single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, Panthyal, Nachlana, Gangroo, Shalgarhi, etc., and the poor surface condition of the road at many places between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.
  2. Passengers and LMV operators are advised to prefer a journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during the day. Please avoid the journey during the night hours, as there is apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
  3. Load carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable or livestock are advised to load their vehicles as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time, as there is single-lane traffic and poor road condition at Dalwas, Panthyal, Nachlana, Shalgarhi, etc. on Jammu Srinagar National Highway.
  4. HMV operators and owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during their journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. It is further requested that vehicle owners double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking a journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
  5. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar Road.

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMV passengers and private cars shall be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, viz., Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. However, HMVs shall be managed in a regulated manner after assessing the road condition.

Cut-off timing for LMVs in view of single roads at Dalwas, Panthyal, Nachlana, Kishtwari Pather, etc. (subject to change depending on road conditions)

From Nagrota (Jammu) at 0600 hours to 1300 hours,

from Jakheni (Udhampur) at 0700 hrs. to 1400 hrs.

The NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) operates from 0600 hours to 1300 hours.

No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off time.

SF Convoy Movement:

Security Forces are advised or requested not to ply against the advisory or traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of the narrow carriageway between Nashree and Banihal on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Tomorrow, they may fly from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of the National Highway from TCU Ramban.

SSG ROAD:

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions (after getting a green signal from road maintenance agencies), only one-way traffic for LMVs 4X4 (passenger/load carrier) from Kargil towards Srinagar shall be allowed on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. These vehicles shall be allowed from Minamarg at 8:00 a.m. up to 1100 a.m. Motorists are advised to carry an anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. No vehicle shall be allowed without an anti-skid chain or after cut-off timing.

Mughal Road:

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions (after getting a green signal from the road maintenance agency), only one-way traffic for LMVs from Poonch towards Shopian on Mughal Road shall be allowed. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) at 1000 hrs to 1400 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off time.

Bhaderwah-Chamba road:

The Bhaderwah-Chamba road is still blocked due to snow accumulation.

People are advised to undertake journeys on the above-mentioned roads only after confirming the status of the road from traffic control units as under:
