Banihal, March 29: On the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, a passenger car at Battery Cheshma in the Ramban region lost control and fell down a steep ravine, killing at least 10 people. The vehicle was traveling from Jammu to Srinagar.

A van carrying mostly outside laborers crashed into a 1,000-foot-deep ravine close to Battery Chashma just after midnight, according to an official who spoke with Greater Kashmir.

Rapid response from Ramban’s police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Civil Quick Response Team (QRT) allowed for a successful rescue operation.

Unfortunately, rescue operations could not be launched right away because of the difficult terrain, darkness, and continuous rains in the region.

Bashir Ahmad Magray, the president of the Ramban Volunteers Group, has confirmed the discovery of 10 remains in a ravine. According to him, the majority of the victims were undocumented workers who were on route to Kashmir in search of employment.

We are still awaiting additional information, so we are unsure of the number of fatalities or injuries.
