Kulgam, September 20: The Kulgam Police Department has detained two drug peddlers and seized illicit substances as part of ongoing efforts to rid the community of this evil.
While on patrol in the Poniwah Chowk area, officers from Police Station Kulgam saw a suspicious individual who attempted to run but was arrested in a skilful manner. His possessions were searched, and 4 kilogrammes of a Poppy Straw-like material were found hidden in a canvas bag. Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a local of Poniwah, is confirmed to be him.
Meanwhile, at a designated roadblock in Levdoora, a police team commanded by the station’s SHO arrested a fleeing suspect who had seen the officers approaching. The search of his person turned up 3 kilogrammes of a Poppy Straw-like material that had been stowed away in a nylon bag. Soeyb Khan, from Wazir Gunj, UP, has been named as the culprit.
Both suspects have been apprehended and sent to separate police stations for processing. As a result, police have opened cases at the appropriate locations under the applicable laws and are conducting additional investigations.
