Police in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir said on Friday that a wanted criminal had been arrested under the state’s draconian Public Safety Act (PSA).
A police officer claimed that Rakesh Kumar, aka “Raku,” a resident of Meer Mohra Sarothi in the Panchari tehsil, has become such a serious danger to public safety that he has been detained under administrative law.
According to him, Kumar is a known criminal with many charges filed against him at the Udhampur police station.The insider went on to say that Vinod Kumar, the senior superintendent of police in Udhampur, had compiled paperwork justifying Kumar’s PSA custody.
He continued by saying that the district magistrate had authorised the arrest of the suspect and that he had been sent to prison. (PTI)
