It has been suggested that the government may bestow a sizable present upon the personnel working in central administration as well as alter the guidelines for the New Pension Scheme (NPS). Will workers of the central government get a minimum pension equal to 40 to 45 percent of their last pay? In answer to this issue, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in the Rajya Sabha that the government is not currently considering a proposal of this kind.

In fact, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament KD Singh posed this question to the government during the question hour: “Is the central government considering changing the formula of market-linked pension received by NPS? Should 40 to 45 percent of the employees’ last salary be given as a pension?” considering?

Describe how the NPS became applicable throughout the nation as of January 1, 2004. A committee has been constituted by the government in April 2023 under the chairmanship of the Finance Secretary to review the NPS, which will review the new pension scheme in a year.

The report from the committee has not been handed in as of yet.

Is the government in possession of the report that was prepared by the committee that was formed to examine the NPS? Regarding this topic, Chaudhary responded by stating that the report of the committee has not yet been received.

Many states that are not controlled by the BJP revert to OPS.

Recent months have seen a number of Indian states, most notably Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab, abandon their previous pension programmes. It is slowly becoming a major topic in the next election.
