On Thursday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to two soldiers who lost their lives while fighting terrorists in Anantnag by laying a wreath and speaking a few words in Srinagar. Their names were Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Aashish Dhonchak.

I offer my sincerest sympathies to their loved ones. There will never be enough words to express how much the appreciative country owes the courageous souls,” the LG stated in a statement.

Meanwhile, in Badami Bagh Cantonment, Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai, the General Officer Commanding 15 Corps (Chinar Corps), and Dilbag Singh, the Director General of Police (DGP), lay wreaths to honour the dead officers.

According to a statement released by an Army official in this city, the bodies of Col. Manpreet Singh and Maj. Aashish Dhonchak have been flown to their respective hometowns for last rites and will be put to rest with full military honours.

The statement said, “In this hour of grief, the Indian Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and remains committed to their dignity, safety, and well being.”
